Stress Test – 90 Hours Without Food While Evaluating Isagenix Cleansing Products

Gregory Johnson

Summary. Several times a year, I perform a stress test to evaluate the effectiveness of the Holistic Living System. This recent stress test is part of a nutrition evaluation of Isagenix products. Some stress tests involve going without sleep, and/or going without food, while at the same time participating in intense physically and mentally demanding activities. This stress test involved only a three-day fast. The journal entry for the stress test is below.

  • 20080912fr1228. Concluding Stress Test. I’ve been 90 hours (almost four days) without food, and last night I had about 4 hours of sleep. Yet, I’m feeling good today. Overall the stress test went very well. There was no loss of strength or mental clarity during the stress test. Instead, I had a measurable increase in energy, mental clarity, and productivity. I’m getting ready to go have lunch at the Red Avocado, a vegan organic food restaurant here in Iowa City. It’s important to come off the fast with light clean foods.
  • 20080911th1737. Three-Day Fasting Cleanse Without Food. I’m on day three of a cleanse experiment in which I’m consuming only the Isagenix Cleanse for Life and Ionix Supreme products. Be advised that this is NOT recommended by Isagenix. It is an independent test that I am conducting to thoroughly test the impact of the products. I believe one of the best ways to test the impact of a consumable product is to isolate it, such as the experiment done by Morgan Spurlock in the documentary SuperSize Me. By fasting, and taking only that product (in reasonable quantities), any benefits or negative side effects can be more easily identified. Additional Nutritional Support. The only additional nutritional support I am using is a vegetable protein source (Source of Life Energy Shake) taken two hours before or after the Isagenix Cleanse for Life and Ionix Supreme products. I’m also taking some store brand supplements including Calcium-Magnesium, Vegetarian Glucosamine, and a multi-vitamin that provides a broad spectrum of vitamins and minerals. These are baseline products known to have no negative side effects (at least for me). Amazing Results. I’m really quite surprised that after almost three days of having no food, I’m not hungry, faint, dizzy, weak, or fatigued. I was able to complete my normal weight lifting and strength training routine on day 1 with excellent energy levels, I ran a 5K run on day 2 of the fast, and this evening, I’m on my way to the gym for my strength training again. This evening I ran out of the Cleanse for Life product which provides (what I believe is) essential support for skin health. So, without that product, to avoid any unnecessary harm to my body, I probably won’t continue the fast past tomorrow morning. The Ionix Supreme liquid has been an excellent source of energy and nutrition from diverse plant based sources.
