Apple iPhone 4 Side controls and switch buttonsSummary. Apple has sold more than 1.7 million iPhone 4 devices in the first three days since the product launched. However, getting an iPhone is quite difficult.

Not Available In Stores or Online. At the time of this writing, the phones were not available at local Apple stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack, or Walmart (as indicated in Apple’s press release yesterday). Since the June 15 pre-order date, numerous attempts to use the Apple online store repeatedly failed over several weeks. Apple retail stores are said to have a priority list for customers to get in a queue and be notified when more phones arrive.

Secret iPhone Purchase Method. The somewhat secret and unpublished iPhone 4 purchase method is to get the free Apple Store App which was only just recently made available on June 15 – the same day that the iPhone 4 became available for pre-order.

“I’ve been able to successfully order two iPhone 4 devices using the Apple Store App. I actually processed a third order for one of the phones after a previous order was cancelled due to having a PO Box as a shipping address. The Apple Store App for the iPod, iPad, or iPhone is the only way I know of to get the iPhone 4 at the current time. The current expected delivery is about three weeks from the time you order a phone which is apparently better than if you try to get one through an Apple retail store. If you currently have an iPod, iPhone, or iPad you can use the app to purchase an iPhone 4. Presumably you could even use someone else’s device to place the order. You’ll want to already have setup an Apple account by going to the Apple Store and clicking on Account in the upper right corner of the page. Make sure that you have a physical shipping address and credit card saved for your account, then use that account email and password to place your order for the iPhone 4.” ~ Gregory Johnson
