Restroom Video Surveillance Cameras

In a post 911 world, people seem to have long forgotten about the desire for privacy. In the article “Iowa City Welcomes a Police State” (Resources for Life News, July 2002), it was reported that Iowa City was being used as a test market for surveillance cameras to be installed at street intersections. There was no protest from citizens about the cameras.

Recently, the Iowa City Public Library became among the first facilities in the nation to install surveillance cameras in the restrooms. There was no public outcry and no news report about the installation of the video cameras.
