Apple Virus Warning Appeal Letter

Friends,

This past week, you may have heard about the Apple computer Flashback virus.

Perhaps you’ve already scanned and cleaned your computer. If so, that’s great.

If not, read on.

Here’s what’s unique and significant about the Flashback virus:

  • The Flashback virus infected over 600,000 Apple computers world-wide. More than any other previous Apple malware.
  • Even with Symantec antivirus software, computers were infected anyway.
  • There are still about 300,000 infected computers being controlled by a botnet network.
  • The Flashback virus infects computers without the user being aware they are being infected. It’s a Java based virus that is spread through infected websites.

A virus of this scope on Apple computers is unprecedented, and Apple users are particularly vulnerable because they have been told that Apple computers don’t get viruses.

I’ve setup a page with more information about the virus, including some simple instructions for detection and removal:

Feel free to contact me if you have questions or need help. Please feel free to share this with family, friends, and co-workers.

Greg
