Summary. The following series of videos shows the region-wide devastation of the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami as filmed by those in the area at the time. The compilation of personal videos along with narration of tourists and local residents tell the story of how the tsunami moved across the area. The Tsunami on Boxing Day 2004 claimed nearly 250,000 lives across 14 countries.

“It seems like there are an endless number of shows about the devastation of earthquakes, floods, fires, tornados, and tsunamis. I typically avoid watching such shows because they are sensationalized and focus on the loss and pain of others. I thought the Boxing Day 2004 documentary was well done. The narration of those who were there is genuine. It’s hard to watch, but you realize how your life can change in an instant. You want to make the most of your life and focus on what’s important. Our life here is fragile and uncertain. Value every moment and every person.” ~ Greg Johnson
