ResourcesForLife.com – News 201210 | 31 October 2012 | Wednesday

Dear Friend,

I know that time is precious for everyone these days, so I’ll try to keep this update short. The approximate reading time is about 3 minutes. Feel free to reduce your reading time even more by skipping over topics that don’t interest you.

Personal Update. My Personal Update for October is now available. If we’re not already connected on Facebook, I invite you to visit my page and send me a friend request.

New Articles. The Documents Page has a list of the latest updates to the site including some important announcements. If you skim the titles you should be able to find the items of interest relevant to you.

Heart Songs. The Heart Songs selections for October 2012 are available on iTunes. This month, I’ve selected a diverse collection of songs. In September, Snoop Lion (previously Snoop Dog) released his documentary film, Reincarnated, about a journey into Rastafarian faith and living. From that movie, this month the song La, La, La by Snoop Lion is featured. The Signal by BertycoX is a techno dance song that’s excellent for a fast-paced workout. Don’t Wake Me Up by Chris Brown has a similar fast rhythm. Some of the songs selected this month are within the genre of contemporary worship, among them are a category of songs that are introspectively critical of the present framework of Christianity. The song Jesus, Friend of Sinners by Casting Crowns, in a self-critical way, challenges Christians to be more compassionate with the declaration, “Jesus … we have strayed so far away … we cut down people in your name … Always looking around but never looking up… Open our eyes to the world at the end of our pointing fingers, Let our hearts be led by mercy, Help us reach with open hearts and open doors.” The song continues with the question, “What if we put down our signs, crossed over the lines, and loved like You did?” This is a transcendent view of activism that is worth considering regardless of your faith: laying down our declarations of protest, crossing over the ‘enemy’ lines, and simply loving like Jesus did.

NoteApple has removed Ping from iTunes. Instead, playlists are now shared using iMix by choosing Share Playlist from the Store menu in iTunes (with your playlist selected). Or, you can create playlists from within the iTunes store. Previous Heart Songs iMix playlist collections are available in iTunes.

Thanks. I want to thank the global team of volunteers, contributors, and workers “behind the scenes” who help make all this possible. I’m very grateful to the many people who continue to uphold and advance the mission of Resources for Life. Thanks again for your support. Please let me know if there is any way that Resources for Life can serve you better.

Regards,
Greg
