Sarah Sanders had been the focus of a lot of media discussion following the 2018 White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Although equal time was given to praise Sanders (as well as the Pres and VP), it was the criticisms of her that became most widely known. Some of the discussion following the WHCD seemed to feed the narrative of the ‘liberal media’ being unfair or unbalanced.
Despite the YouTube video title (“Has Sarah Sanders Lost Credibility?”), this video segment from The View (4 May 2018) is an example of how, one week later, changes in viewpoints were being made that seem to help correct the perception of media bias — even though the discussion is critical of the current administration.
When efforts by ‘the media’ (news media and entertainment media) are made to offer some balance of views and issues, it fosters a broader sense of relevance and greater inclusion, and also helps promote public trust.
