Working from home? The new Apple iPad Pro may be the only computer you need.

Today Apple launched a bold promotional video for their new iPad Pro. That video is below. The most significant improvements over previous models are high quality camera lenses and a new keyboard with a touch pad – allowing the new iPad Pro to offer a more laptop-like experience. The iPad Pro is available for purchase now with delivery starting next week. The keyboard availability is currently predicted for May, but other bluetooth keyboards should work for now.

For those who have not used an iPad before, think of it as a very large iPhone. The advantage of an iPad over a regular laptop or desktop computer is that there are no moving parts other than the volume, power, and mute controls. No noisy fans. No waiting for the system to start up. No need for antivirus software. Compatible printers work immediately. Software purchases are typically less expensive, and there is usually no cost for updates or newer versions. Desktop computers, especially Windows, are quite complicated and can require tech help from a local consultant or Best Buy Geek Squad technician. This is costly.

Combined with cellular data and WiFi, you’ll have Internet just about everywhere. The iPad Pro offers the cameras and connectivity of a smartphone, the touch display of a tablet, the keyboard and mouse of a laptop, and the power of a desktop computer. Connect a large display via USB C and use a mouse for a more desktop-like experience. You can use the Apple Pencil to make notations in documents, sign forms, draw, or perform other functions..

The pricing ranges from about $800 to $1,650 depending on the screen size you choose (11″ or 12.5″) and storage capacity (128GB to 1,000GB). Adding or removing the configuration with WiFi and cellular data capabilities will increase or decrease the price by $150. Even if you don’t initially plan on using the cellular data plan, it’s a good idea to have that feature for future use since it can’t be added later.

In summary, it’s worth taking a look at the iPad Pro if you’re shopping for a computer. [Learn More]
