2020 Election — Differing Views Among Republicans

In most election years there is a fairly consistent partisan alignment around a party’s presidential nomination. In 2016, and again in 2020, both the Republican and Democratic Party members have had differing views. Among Democrats, the split was between Bernie Sanders and establishment candidates like Joe Biden. For Republicans, there seem to be some supporting President Trump and others who aren’t supportive. Among those not supporting him include former staff members and others serving during his administration. The videos below are examples of those who aren’t enthusiastic supporters of Trump. “Telling the Truth” (14 Feb 2020)

In 2019, Lt. Col. Vindman, who was assigned to the White House’s National Security Council, complied with a federal subpoena and testified during the U.S. House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry against President Trump. In his testimony, Lt. Col. Vindman discussed what he heard on Trump’s call with Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy. Vindman concluded, “I did not think it was proper to demand that a foreign government investigate a U.S. citizen, and I was worried about the implications for the U.S. government’s support of Ukraine.” Since then, President Trump has repeatedly attacked Lt. Col. Vindman and his valiant service to the United States.
